by It was great to dive back into some Integral Futures in Alternative Perspectives class this semester. The all-too-rare opportunity to hear Richard Slaughter guest lecture on integral for us was exciting. And teaming up with [then] student Craig Perry to apply integral thinking to security was fun as well.
As I was flipping through various readings and writings, my colleague and Integral brother-in-arms, Adjunct Profess Jim Breaux, pointed out that a set of probing questions I’d developing for using the AQAL (aka the Four Quadrants or Integral Matrix) did not appear to published anywhere. So, let’s fix that.
I developed these questions in the early 2000s to help an internal team at Dow analyze some potential discontinuities we had developed. I was all jazzed up about it, but I felt like I needed to provide some help for my colleagues who were new to Integral. So, I came up with 4-6 questions for each quadrant that would help us to think through the perspective of each quadrant for our discontinuities. Since then, I’ve used these questions dozens of times. And I have no doubt they could be improved, so here they are. I’d be grateful for any additions, or even ways that y’all have applied the AQAL (or Integral in general for that matter. – Andy Hines
Nailed it! Good to see these out in the landscape for use. Great set of questions to probe any issue from the several perspectives, hopefully to illuminate possible motivations in developing scenarios.
