Peter Hayward, former leader of the great Foresight program at Swinburne that was shut down, has been doing the amazing Futurepod podcast for the last several years. My recent visit was episode 228 ,,, that’s a lot of talking about the future! [Links to podcast here]

Peter was kind enough to have me on to talk about the Imagining After Capitalism book before it came out about three years ago on Episode 149. One of his very smart and helpful ideas with Futurepod is to continue conversations over time, so not everything is a one-off. We got together and talked about what’s new. In particular, I shared some of the people and organizations I’ve been talking as a result of the book launching and how that suggests an interesting path forward. I’ve learned there is more going on that fits with After Capitalism than most of us are generally aware of. I intend to bring some of that to light going forward. As we futurists now change starts small on the fringe and it typically takes a long time for it to build and emerge.
One of the key points that came up is that we’re not at the stage of having a plan. We have a sense of direction, principles, and ideas about things we could do. And we need to start trying stuff and learning as we go. — Andy Hines
