The After Capitalism plot is thickening. Check out this nice review of the book on Substack. But perhaps more interesting is who it came from and the work he and his institute are doing!


Matt Orsagh founded the Arketa Institute to lend focus to his work on post-growth finance. His substack is Degrowth is the Answer. Okay, so readers of this blog are probably in the know about post-growth and degrowth… but in connection with finance? I’ll confess it was news to me. It suggests things might be moving a bit faster than we think … “fast” in the sense of futurists, which is slow to most people I suppose. Degrowth started to appear on the fringes 10-15 years ago and has made strides to the edge of the mainstream in the last five years. I have two book reviews in process on the topic that are bestsellers! Wow,right?
Finding Matt’s work and then having a chat is really quite a positive sign. After Capitalism is moving into the “how” space. The After Capitalism guiding images are about what it might look like, with some “how” sprinkled into the book. So it is great to see more “how” beginning to emerge. — Andy Hines
